1. About The Application
⚠️ HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ONLY
This application is strictly designed for licensed healthcare professionals (pharmacists, physicians, nurses, anticoagulation specialists). Patients must not use this app for self-management or self-dosing.
What is WarfarinWisely?
WarfarinWisely is a Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tool designed to assist licensed healthcare professionals in calculating modified weekly warfarin doses based on INR (International Normalized Ratio) test results. The app simplifies calculations using validated clinical guidelines from the Pharmaceutical Services Programme, Ministry of Health Malaysia (Anticoagulant Quick Guide, 1st Edition).
This tool is NOT a medical device, NOT medical advice, and NOT a substitute for professional clinical judgment. Healthcare professionals must independently verify all calculated results before clinical application.
Calculation Methods
The app offers three evidence-based adjustment methods for calculating modified warfarin doses:
- Method A (ICSI Guideline): Percentage-based adjustment (wadj = 15 × INR difference)
- Method B (MOH Malaysia Guideline): Alternative percentage-based adjustment (wadj = 10 × INR difference)
- Method C (Manual/Custom): Custom adjustment defined by the healthcare professional (±15%)
Modified dose is calculated as: mcurD = curD × (100% ± wadj) and mapped to validated daily dose schedules.
Key Features
- Real-time Dose Calculation: Calculates modified weekly warfarin doses based on INR test results
- Input Validation: Validates dose range (3.0–102.0 mg weekly) and INR range (0.1–10.0)
- Multiple Daily Schedules: Generates complete 7-day dose schedules for calculated weekly doses
- PDF Reports: Export calculation results with timestamp and optional clinician signature for medical records
- Secure Sharing: Share results to messaging apps for healthcare provider collaboration
- Offline Operation: Works completely offline—no internet required, no data collection

3. Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 2026
TL;DR: What We Don't Do
- We don't collect patient data
- We don't track usage or analytics
- We don't send your calculations to external servers
- We don't require an account, login, or email
- We don't use advertising or third-party trackers
- We work entirely offline
Data We Do NOT Collect
Patient Information: The app stores zero patient data. You provide input values (INR, current dose) temporarily for calculation, but these are not saved, logged, or transmitted anywhere.
Usage Analytics: We do not track how often you use the app, which features you access, or how long sessions last. No analytics libraries are included.
Location/Identifiers: We do not access your location, device identifiers, or other personal information.
Data We DO Store Locally (On Your Device Only)
The app stores only these user preferences locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences / iOS Keychain:
- Haptic Feedback Toggle — Whether vibration feedback is enabled (default: on)
- Dark Mode Toggle — Whether dark theme is enabled (default: off)
- Signature Text — Optional text you enter for PDF report signatures (defaults to empty)
These preferences are stored only on your device. They are never sent to any server. Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data immediately.
Calculation Data
All dose calculations happen entirely on your device. Calculations are not saved to device storage, sent to any server, or shared with third parties.
Offline Operation
This app requires no internet connection to use. All calculations run locally on your device.
4. Regulatory Positioning
Why This Is NOT a Medical Device
This app is positioned as Clinical Decision Support (CDS) software, not a medical device. Understanding this distinction is important for healthcare professionals and regulators.
- No Diagnosis: The app does not diagnose any medical condition. You, the healthcare professional, provide the diagnosis and INR value.
- No Treatment Recommendation: The app calculates a adjusted dose; it does not recommend starting, stopping, or treating any condition. The clinician determines whether to apply the result.
- No Patient-Directed Advice: The app is not intended for patients. Results are reviewed and interpreted by the clinician, who bears full clinical responsibility.
- Supported Decision, Not Autonomous Decision: The app assists an existing clinical workflow (verification of dose calculations) but does not make autonomous clinical decisions.
Evidence Base
The calculation is based on:
- Pharmaceutical Services Programme, Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) — Anticoagulant Quick Guide (1st Edition)
- Peer-reviewed clinical literature supporting ICSI and MOH Malaysia dosing methods
- Validated warfarin dosing tables used in clinical practice
